This free tool estimates a coverage duration — how many years of life insurance a household in your situation might consider — based on how long dependents rely on your income, years left on a mortgage, and years until retirement. It outputs a number of years only: no dollar amount, no price, no premium. It is illustrative and educational, not a quote, advice, or a determination of what you need; a licensed agent reviews your specific situation.
How the duration is estimated
The tool takes the longest of three common time horizons: the years until your youngest dependent reaches independence, the years remaining on your mortgage, and the years until your planned retirement. The longest of these is shown as an illustrative coverage duration, because coverage is often considered for the period others depend on your income.
What it does not do
It produces no dollar figure, price, or premium, and recommends no product. It does not determine the term you need — that's a decision made with a licensed agent who can review your circumstances. The result is an illustrative educational estimate.
